Lawrence Central’s student body is richly diverse, and we are proud of the way students from a variety of backgrounds get along together. We believe that development of character and habits of mind that will enable our graduates to prosper and to establish strong and positive human relationships are outcomes worthy of emphasis.
Advanced placement courses, including Gifted/Talented and International Baccalaureate, college courses, independent study, mentorships, and specialized courses in the performing arts, as well as specific academic courses for the academically talented students are a part of the high school component.
Lawrence Township’s English as a Second Language, ESL, is designed to provide English language instruction and content area support to non-English speaking and limited English proficient students.
We have remedial programs for those who struggle with essential skills, and a variety of offerings for a wide spectrum of interests. We also offer (by referral only) NovaNET classes for credit recovery.
Lawrence Central students are also supported by the McKenzie Career Center which provides training in a variety of business, medical and industrial fields, and alternative programs such as Diploma Plus Secondary Academy (formerly KIND School), The Diploma Recovery Program and the "Senior Save" program.
Our school supports our district-wide, award winning “Caring About Character initiative” in which our students are taught and encouraged to follow our Lifeskills for Building Character.
