NCAA Eligibility

A student intending to participate in Division I or Division II athletics as a freshman in college must be registered with and be certified as eligible by the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse.  The student should apply for certification during his/her junior year in high school.  Applications are available on-line at using a valid Visa or Mastercard only.  If unable to apply electronically, you may either obtain a guide with paper application by calling the NCAA Clearinghouse at (877)262-1492.  Potential athletes who have questions regarding eligibility should contact the NCAA Hotline at (800)638-3731.  Once you have registered, notify the Lawrence Central Counseling Center so your transcript can be sent to the Clearinghouse.   The Clearinghouse will require your 6th semester (after completion of your junior year) and 8th semester (after completion of you senior year) transcripts.

The cost of the application is $70.00 payable by credit card, check or money order.  A fee waiver is available, but the student MUST have previously received one for the SAT or ACT.  Verification of the waiver will be submitted on your behalf.

Students registering for either the SAT or the ACT should bubble in the code 9999 in the section designated for sending test results to colleges and scholarship agencies.  If you have already taken either of these tests but failed to send your scores, you can go online to (SAT) or (ACT) and request to have your scores sent.  Rushed reporting is available for meeting deadlines, but there is always an additional fee involved.

Questions regarding NCAA rules and eligibility can be directed to Nancy Hormann at 964-7696 or

SAT and/or ACT fee waivers can be obtained from Mr. Oliver Smith in the Guidance Office.

NOTE:  No Clearinghouse eligibility is required for Division III schools.
