The last eight weeks have been challenging for our school, community, state, and nation. We recognize the emotions around the numerous activities and traditions that have been altered as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, it is our intent to honor the Class of 2020 to the best of our ability given the circumstances.
Based on mandates in place by Governor Holcomb and Mayor Hogsett, and in the interest of public safety, it is not permissible to hold the traditional ceremonies originally planned (Lawrence North on June 2nd and Lawrence North on June 3rd) at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual graduation experience in its place at 7PM on June 2nd for Lawrence North and 7PM on June 3rd for Lawrence Central. Diplomas will be officially awarded at this time and will be available for pick up in July. Details on the streaming of the event will be publicized through principal communication, on the district and school websites, and on social media.
Assuming it is deemed safe, it is the intent of the district to hold an in-person ceremony in July.
Lawrence Central will hold an in-person event on July 30 at 8 PM on the football field. The rain date is July 31.
Lawrence North will hold an in-person event on July 28 at 8 PM on the football field.The rain date is July 29.
Diploma covers will be distributed during the in-person ceremony.
Each school will have an in-person rehearsal with students either the day before or morning of the event.
The virtual graduation will include dignitary speeches, reading of student names, and a collage of pictures. Students wishing to submit photos should do so by May 15. Students at Lawrence Central should submit pictures to Ms. Karolina Vega at email@example.com. Students at Lawrence North should submit pictures to Mrs. Connie Sivertson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Information will be forthcoming on a drive thru cap and gown pick up and Chromebook collection taking place the week of May 18.

TOP 30 BANQUET at LECC
Lawrence Central’s Top 30 Program has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 14.
Lawrence North’s Top 30 Program has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 15.
Details on an immersion program are forthcoming from Lawrence North.
It will not be possible to reschedule prom due to social distancing regulations and venue conflicts, but the high schools will work to plan some type of senior celebration this summer.
