Head Boys & Girls Track and Field Coach Tim Richey

In 2018, Coach Richey returned to LC where he served as assistant coach and head coach of the boys and girls programs from 2002-2014.  

Coach Richey has 3 state championship teams on his resume.  The LC girls won state titles in 2010, and 2014, with a state runner-up finish in 2013.   The Boys LC Track team won the state title in 2012, winning with the 2nd highest point total ever.   The LC boys and girls track teams also captured back to back Hoosier State Relays (indoor state) titles in 2012, 2013. 

Coach Richey initially served as the long time boys assistant coach leading the jumps and hurdles.  He then took over as head track coach of girls in 2009 and boys in 2012.  Coach Richey leads programs with details and discipline as keys to success.   The girls track team claimed five consecutive Marion County titles from 2010-2014, while also dominating the state rankings during that time.  

LC Track and Cross-Country was at its most dominant in 2012 when outstanding distance runners abounded with the sprint, jump, throw athletes.  Led by current Wabash College Cross-Country coach and 2017-18 LC Head Girls Track coach, Tyler McCreary, the distance runners won the outdoor national 4x1 mile relay and produced countless Indiana conference, sectional, regional titles.  

Coach Richey is a three time Indiana Coach of the Year and was also named the USTFCCCA Coach of the Year in 2014.

Prior to coming to LC, coach Richey led small school powerhouse White River Valley (Cross Country and Track head coach) to state titles in the 400, and the pole vault (3x) with state medals in the hurdles, and throws.

Coach Richey will be inducted into the USTFCCCA Hall of Fame in February of 2021!!
